Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has asked Cabinet Secretaries to ignore opinion polls rating their performance and that of the government.

Speaking during the launch of the construction works for the Riruta-Ngong Commuter Rail line in Ngong, Kajiado County, Gachagua urged CSs to focus on their jobs and turn a blind eye to unnecessary noise.

“If you listen to this people making noise you will get stuck. If the President and I listen to the people making noise, the country will grind to a halt,” he stated.

He said senior government officials need to focus on their jobs to deliver the Kenya Kwanza agenda.

“We have never been persuaded by those opinion polls and we are not about to start listening to them,” he said.

He reiterated that senior government officials should focus on what needs to be done.

“You have been given a job by the President, focus on it. The same people released findings in 2007 and said Raila Odinga would win the elections, did he win? In 2013, they again said he would win. In 2022, they also said he will win. Ignore those polls, they have no meaning,” he stated.

The Deputy President cited a recent poll which said Hustlers are unhappy with the state of affairs.

“The same opinion poll is saying the most popular party is UDA, how come? It is a contradiction. Who is the party leader of UDA? It is the President. So if UDA is the most popular party, then how come the same opinion poll is saying something different?” Gachagua opined.

An opinion poll released by TIFA Research on December 12, 2023, said Kenya Kwanza supporters are unhappy with the state of affairs.

UDA was ranked as the most popular political party.

According to the poll, UDA garnered 31 per cent support from Kenyans as compared to its arch-rival, the Orange Democratic Movement party, whose popularity was rated at 22 per cent.
