Two suspected thugs were Wednesday shot and killed by police in Kibera slums, Nairobi and a pistol recovered from them.

Police said the men were part of a gang linked to violent crimes in the city when they were confronted in Laini Saba.

Police said the men had been terrorising residents when an alarm was raised alerting officers on patrol.

A Berreta Pistol and six rounds of ammunition were found on the slain men.

Police said the men were felled after a shootout.

Seven spent cartridges were recovered at the scene as the bodies were moved to the mortuary.

Kilimani police boss Ndiwa Moss said they have enhanced operations to address a few cases of violent robberies in the area.

“We also commend the public who are helping in this war on crime,” he said.

Meanwhile, police are looking for a gang that stabbed and seriously wounded a 34-year-old woman in a robbery in Kasarani, Nairobi.

The woman was stabbed in the upper right arm as she resisted and fought off a gang that was grabbing her bag.

She lost the fight after being stabbed at about 9 pm on Wednesday as the gang on a motorcycle grabbed the bag with cash and other personal effects and rode off.

Witnesses said the gang had also attacked other pedestrians and robbed them of cash and valuables.

The woman was rushed to the hospital after the attack at the USIU bust stop.

Police said they are hunting down the gang behind the incidents.

Police have also advised victims of robbery with violence to always cooperate with their attackers for their safety.

“If you feel it is unsafe for you it is better to cooperate. Nothing is worth your life because some of these thugs are on drugs and can cause death on small provocation,” police said.

Officials say most of the fatal incidents or those with serious injuries happen because of a lack of cooperation from victims.

This has resulted in many losses in families at large as most victims end up nursing wounds or lose their sources of bread.
