President William Ruto will flag off the distribution of 100,000 kits to be used by Community Health Promoters on Monday.

According to the Ministry of Health, the kits will be essential tools for household screening by the CHPs who will be at the centre of Universal Health Coverage.

Under UHC, the government seeks to focus on promotive and preventive health.

The kits aim to empower and equip CHPs with essential tools to enhance healthcare access and promote healthier communities to achieve this goal.

The flag-off at Uhuru Park will also be attended by key government officials including the Health CS Susan Nakhumicha and the Council of Governors.

Public Health PS Mary Muthoni and her medical services counterpart Harry Kimtai on Sunday conducted an inspection tour at Uhuru Park to oversee the preparations and ensure all is set.

"Launching the Community Health Promoters' kit distribution empowers our communities for better health," Kimtai said.

"A healthier community begins with empowered individuals. Our CHPs are our champions of change."

The 100,000 CHPs who have already been trained will be unveiled on Mashujaa Day celebrations in October.

According to Nakhumicha, the training has been done together with other partners and with CoG.

"The county governments did the name of the CHP and the identification so we are happy that we are going to be launching on October 20,” the CS said at a past event.

The theme for this year's Mashujaa Day celebrations is Universal Health Care.

The celebrations will start with the UHC week which will run for a week before Mashujaa Day.

Ruto said the CHPs will play a critical role in decongesting hospitals in the country noting that minor ailments will be diagnosed and treated at the community level.
