A man convicted of two murders and suspected of slaughtering at least two dozen women was found dead in his Texas state prison cell early Tuesday.

Billy Chemirmir, 50, had been serving two life sentences without parole in the Coffield Unit in Tennessee Colony near Palestine when he was attacked.

His cellmate, who has not been named, was identified as the assailant, officials with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice said.

It’s unclear how Chemirmir died.

Woman wanted over murder of Eric Maigo

Police on Thursday appealed for information on a woman believed to have been involved in the death of the Nairobi Hospital director of finance Eric Maigo.

Maigo was killed in the wee hours of September 15, 2023, at his house in Woodley, Nairobi.

Detectives are appealing for information that may lead to the arrest of the woman whose images were captured as she left the crime scene.

The suspect who was captured leaving the victim's residence at Woodley Annex -Upper is believed to have been involved in the murder before escaping through the back door, the DCI said.

Woman shot during fight 

A 27-year-old woman was tragically shot and killed while attempting to intervene in a fight between two brothers in a village in Kibish, Turkana County.

According to the police, the incident occurred when Amajong Longidi, a neighbour of the feuding brothers, rushed to separate them as their physical altercation escalated.

One of the brothers had hurriedly retrieved a rifle, believed to be illegally possessed, with the intention of using it against the other.

Man abducted in Mandera 

Police are investigating an incident in which gunmen raided a village in Lafey, Mandera and abducted a 20-year-old man.

The gang of about 20 which was armed with rifles also stole over 200 goats the man was herding.

A witness said the gang raided the Jihin area at a Shallow water well and opened fire at two herders forcing one to escape on foot in the September 19 midday incident.

He later reported to police that Abdirahman Khalif, 20, was missing alongside the goats after the shooting drama.

Dozens of houses burnt in Mandera

At least three men were shot dead in a village in Bambo West, Mandera County in a renewed inter-clan fighting.

Dozens of houses were burnt in the incident that happened on Sunday morning, police said of the Mandera North incident.

The deceased were identified as Omar Abdi Mohamed, Gedi Abdi Qaley, and Hassan Osman Mohamed and had been shot at close range, police said.
