- "About the athlete's kits, the country has a contract with Nike and not Adidas as it is reported. We found the contract in place," he said.
- On Monday, Boss had also alleged that the team that had gone to Tunisia beach were wearing fake Adidas.
Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba has said team Kenya currently at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest is kitted by Nike.
The CS refuted claims raised by National Assembly Deputy Speaker Gladys Boss who alleged that the athletes were photographed wearing fake Adidas which she said were bought at River Road.
"About the athlete's kits, the country has a contract with Nike and not Adidas as it is reported. We found the contract in place," he said.
Ababu added that he has photo evidence of athletes who are currently in Budapest, saying they are all kitted in Nike attires.
"As for the team at Budapest, I have photos with the president of athletics Kenya. I can share the images, they were all fully in Nike uniforms and not Adidas," he stated.
On Monday, Boss had also alleged that the team that had gone to Tunisia beach were wearing fake Adidas.
"The other day when our team went to Tunisia, for the beach games, they were wearing fake sports gear. I think it was fake Adidas, knockoffs from River Road. By the time a country's athlete wears fake uniforms, then there is something wrong," she said.
Ababu is currently appearing before the Parliament to answer allegations raised by MPs over neglecting athletes, who they termed as Ambassadors of the country.
