Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has welcomed the development projects his boss will be launching on his five-day tour of Mt Kenya region.

President William Ruto on Saturday embarked on an extensive tour of the region that will see him traverse Kiambu, Kirinyaga, Laikipia and Nyeri counties.

Gachagua, the region's foremost political leader, said the development projects would be a game-changer for the region's economic prospects.

The DP, who is accompanying Ruto on his extensive tour of Mt Kenya region, said the President is fulfilling what he promised the region during the campaigns.

''The Kenya Kwanza Administration has undertaken to implement key projects to catalyse economic growth up to the grassroots,'' Gachagua said.

''The roads, water, health, markets and other projects that H.E President William Ruto will launch today and in the course of his five-day working tour of Mt Kenya Region will feed to our Plan of dignifying Kenyans to the lowest level," he added.

The DP said leaders from the region as well as residents are grateful that Ruto is ''leading in the delivery of The Plan.''

During the campaigns, Ruto held county-based consultative forums that birthed various priority areas for various regions.

The wishes were then used to form part of Ruto's election manifesto referred to as The Plan.

The head of state kicked off the development tour from Githurai in Kiambu County on Saturday where he commissioned the Githurai water supply project.

He will later commission the upgrading of the 42.5- kilometre Marua-Kwa Wambui road in Mathira, Nyeri County.

He will also hold a meet-the-people tour in Karatina town.

On Sunday, Ruto will attend an inter-denominational prayer service at Sagana State Lodge and later chair a meeting with leaders from the Mt Kenya region.

On Monday, the President will commission the Ichamara-Kariti road upgrade in Mukurwe-ini and the Kaigonji and Othaya water projects in Tetu.

Later in the day, he will open a bus park terminus in Nyeri town to ease traffic congestion.

On Tuesday, Ruto will chair a Cabinet meeting at Sagana State Lodge and open the new Kenya Cooperative Creameries (KCC) plant in Kiganjo.

He will later host a special conference with regional leaders at Sagana State Lodge.

On Wednesday, he will open a 175-bed level four hospital in Naromoru and officiate the groundbreaking of the Gichugu affordable housing project in Kirinyaga County.
