Sirisia Member of Parliament John Waluke is demanding the transfer of Lwakhakha police station Officer Commanding Station (OCS) on allegations that the officer is taking bribes at the Kenya- Uganda border.

Addressing the press, Waluke said that he has received complaints from the residents that the officer is harassing people along the busy border.

“I’m tired of complaints from locals about this officer, I want the relevant authorities to move with speed and take action,” Waluke stated.

The lawmaker argues that if the officer continues being at the border police station, he will turn the place into a bribe exchange center.

“As the government works towards cracking bribes and illegal business at the border, we also need like-minded people to be stationed at the place so that the government can also achieve its vision,” he said.

The MP said that the bribes also threaten the cross- border security.

Present was Interior PS Raymond Omollo.

Omollo said that in the past one-year fake passports and identification documents accounted for 40 percent of the crimes apprehended at Lwakhakha, a threat that the government has set about to reign on with finality.

In his response, Bungoma County Commissioner Thomas Sankei said that the relevant office has taken up the matter and investigations will be done into MP Waluke’s claims.
