Former United Democratic Alliance vice chairman Kipruto Arap Kirwa has opined that it is good to give Azimio chief Raila Odinga a listening ear.

He said though Raila is no angel, the issues he is raising are pertinent to the nation.

Kirwa spoke on Tuesday during an interview with K24.

"The country is in a crisis and it is possible that those in government might not see the crisis. I am not saying Raila is an angel and I have never said that and I will never say that," Kirwa said.

"But he has pertinent issues that we must listen to and see beyond him,"

Kirwa said Kenyans should look to see if the issues Raila has been raising are real.

He said if the issues Raila has been raising are real, then it is only right that they be addressed.

In his opinion, Kirwa said it may not be true to say that Raila has been changing the pertinent issues he has been raising since the August 9 election last year.

"It is a continuum of issues. Yes, they started with the issue of the server, we have been talking about the IEBC commissioners but we cannot stop when the government itself is borrowing at 15 per cent and therefore escalating the cost of loans that people are taking in this country, domestically," he said.

He said since the government is borrowing at a rate of 15 per cent, it takes away Kenyan's opportunity to pay a loan at the rate they had agreed with the bank.

Kirwa said the repayment rate for a Kenyan citizen could go up to 17 or 18 per cent which is costly.
