State House cars to be auctioned for as low as Sh110,000

The highest is a range rover whose price has been capped at Sh1.25 million.

Kenyans seeking to buy motor vehicles and other items being disposed by State House have until next week to submit their bids.

State House through the State Department for Roads has said it will be selling by public auction vehicles, tyres, batteries, lawnmowers and assorted scrap metals on June 16.

An auction catalogue shows that all the 13 vehicles marked as unserviceable can be viewed at the State House Ruiru garage on June 14 with bidders being required to pay deposit fees.

“Prospective bidders are required to pay a refundable deposit of Sh50,000 payable in the form of cash at the cash office, executive Office of the President-State House in Nairobi during normal working hours,” reads the notice.

Ranger rovers, Mercedes benz, Toyota Prados and a van are among the models put out for sale for as low as Sh110, 000 with the highest being a range rover which its price has been capped at Sh1.25 million.

Successful bidders will be required to pay 25 percent of the purchase price in cash for the lots on the same day and the balance being paid in cash within seven days.

“Failure to which the initial deposit will be forfeited and the item offered to the second highest bidder,” the notice further states.

The auction has been set for June 16 with Astorion auctioneers being appointed the auctioneer.

All lots bided and fully paid for, it adds, are to be collected within 30 days failure to which the purchaser shall be liable to pay a storage charge of Sh1,000 daily.

Taxes and other charges involved during the transfer of ownership will be borne by the purchaser.
