Most parts of Kenya to remain dry this week - Met

The Coast are predicted to have morning, early afternoon and night over few places

Most parts of the country will remain dry this week, the latest forecast by the Meteorological department has indicated.

The Seven-day forecast released by Head of the Met department David Gikungu noted that rains will be gradual.

According to the forecast, rainfall is expected to continue over some parts of the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley and the Coast but the rainfall amounts are expected to reduce.

Similarly, the temperatures during the day are predicted to be higher especially in some parts of Northeastern and North-western Kenya.

Counties in the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin and the Rift Valley are predicted to experience sunny mornings with afternoon showers and thunderstorms.

These counties include; Kisii, Nyamira, Nandi, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Siaya, Kisumu, Homabay, Busia, Migori, Narok, Baringo, Nakuru, Trans-Nzoia, Uasin-Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet and West-Pokot.

“Nights are expected to be partly cloudy though there is a possibility of showers occurring over few places,” Gikungu said.

North-western Kenya counties (Turkana and Samburu) are likely to have sunny days with partly cloudy nights while maximum temperatures during the day being as high as 38 degrees in Lodwar.

Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang'a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka-Nithi and Nairobi Counties  will have cloudy mornings with light rains over few places, giving way to sunny intervals.

"Occasional afternoon and night showers are expected over few places,” he said.

Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa and Isiolo counties are likely to be sunny during the day and partly cloudy during the night.

According to the weatherman, Machakos, Kitui, Makueni, Kajiado and Taita-Taveta Counties will experience sunny days and partly cloudy nights.

The Coast counties of Mombasa, Tana-River, Kilifi, Lamu and Kwale on the other hand are predicted to have morning, early afternoon and night over few places.
