Pastor Ezekiel Odero has asked the court to allow him to withdraw Sh50 million from his accounts to enable him to run the operations of the international school and the church.

Odero says the closing of his ministry's bank accounts has greatly paralysed operations of the international school and church activities.

In a new application filed at the Milimani Law courts, Odero says that the freezing of his accounts has caused financial and logistical hardship to the operations of the ministry namely the New Life Prayer Centre & church and Kilifi International School.

Through lawyers Danstan Omari and Shadrack Wambui, Odero also claims that the financial overheads of running the church and the school cannot wait for 30 days as directed by the court.

“Cash flow issues occasioned by the freezing of the Applicant’s accounts is causing a negative impact on the workers and students associated with New Life Prayer Centre and Church and Kilifi International School,” reads court papers.

Odero says he supports over 2,000 needy students who draw their school fees from accounts that have been unlawfully frozen.

“The closure of my accounts has an astronomical negative impact on the church and school’s operation as the over 2000 student’s daily upkeep will present a logistical nightmare,” he claims.

He further adds that the students that he philanthropically supports risk missing their fees for the second term thereby making them lack their respective educational undertakings, an act that will render them destitute.

He has pleaded with the court to open six accounts that are linked to the school and church.

“Unfreezing the mentioned accounts is paramount to safeguarding the best interests of the children, ensuring their access to education as a fundamental right,” Odero says.

Odero says he has not engaged in and or gotten connected with Pastor Paul Mackenzie as alleged and no nexus, links or connection whatsoever exists between his operations and those of Pastor Mackenzie to warrant the closure of the accounts as purported in the application.
