A man died by suicide using a woodworking machine in a timber yard in a village in Nandi County.

Police said the mutilated body of the unidentified man was found in a timber yard minutes after he had died on May 5.

 

The owner of the yard in Kabiyet told police that the deceased stormed there at about 4 pm before he died by suicide.

The man dashed into the machine that is used in converting wood into timber and switched it on before running himself over it.

The motive of the incident is yet to be established.

Police visited the scene and recovered the mutilated body parts from the blades of the machine to the mortuary.

The police plan to identify the body first before they reconstruct it for further analysis.

In Siaya’s Ligose village, Charles Omondi Otieno aged 12 died by suicide by hanging himself using a rope in their kitchen.

Police who arrived at the scene said the parents had tried to save him by cutting the rope and that foam was oozing from his nose.

In Mogweko village in Mogonga location, Kisii County, the body of one Josphat Nyaberi Omanwa, 32, was found dangling inside his house from the roof rafters, with a piece of mosquito net tied around the neck.

Police said they are investigating the incident.

Cases of suicide have been on the rise amid calls to address the trend.

Up to three cases are reported daily in the country.
