Police are investigating an incident in which a body of a man was found hanging on a tree in Ngong Forest, Nairobi.

A forest ranger told police he was patrolling part of the area when he stumbled on the body that had decomposed on Monday, April 17 morning.

The ranger called the police who picked up the body to the mortuary.

Police said they suspect the deceased who did not have identification documents then died more than four days earlier.

The body was found within Lenana Ngong Road forest.

Police handling the case say they are yet to know if the man died by suicide or was killed.

A probe into the incident is ongoing.

Cases of suicide have been on the rise amid calls to address the trend.

Meanwhile, police in Thika are investigating an incident where an irate mob attacked and killed a brother of a suspect who had allegedly stabbed to death another man at Kiandutu Slums.

The incident happened after the mob that was baying for the blood of Kelvin Kioko failed to find him and instead found his brother.

Kioko is said to have stabbed a middle-aged man at Mtatu A area at around 3 am Monday leaving him for dead for unknown reasons before fleeing.

The victim was rushed to Thika Level 5 Hospital by his neighbours who answered his distress calls but he was pronounced dead on arrival.

And in a retaliation attempt, a mob went to search for the assailant at his home in a neighbouring slum, Kianjau, but he was not there.

Police said the gang attacked his brother and killed him. Mary Wanjiku Muiruri, mother of the innocent son killed at his home, is now appealing to the security agencies to investigate the matter and bring the perpetrators to book.

Police say they are investigating the incident. Mob lynching incidents have been on the rise in major informal settlement areas amid calls to address the menace.

Police warn the trend is criminal and want suspects to be surrendered to authorities for processing.
