Your demand on IEBC servers is dishonest, Mudavadi tells Raila

"Raila is forgetting that what he is asking for now was granted to him a long time ago.”

Prime CS Musalia Mudavadi has said Azimio's demand for IEBC servers to be opened for verification of August 9 poll results is fictitious and dishonest.

Speaking in Chandumba Village, Vihiga County, Mudavadi said the Azimio wing led by ODM leader Raila Odinga is hoodwinking Kenyans to believe that the elections were not free and fair.

“The Azimio side took their petition to the Supreme Court and presented its evidence as stipulated under the law. In its directive, the Supreme Court ordered and authorised the opening of servers to verify if what was tallied at Bomas reflected the exact results transmitted from the polling centers," he said.

"Raila is forgetting that what he is asking for now, was granted to him a long time ago.”

He added that Raila and his troops have continuously disregarded the spirit of the Constitution and the rule of law and have now become enemies of progress in upholding democracy in Kenya.

“Even for Raila, if you are a true democrat respect the will and wishes of the people of Kenya. You cannot at all the time, on every election season say that something has gone wrong," he added.

“You had a chance, in fact the best chance of your career. You and your supporters had the Deep State as you pronounced then."

Mudavadi dismissed Azimio's demands on the lowering of the cost of living saying the government cannot implement policies fronted by the Opposition.

He said never has it been recorded in history where a sitting government implements the policies of the opposition.

"If you go to America now, can you tell President Biden to implement Trump's economic policies yet he defeated him?" he posed.

"It cannot happen. If they want, let them wait until 2027 but let them not close roads and stop businesses from running. We cannot go that way," Mudavadi said.

Raila and his Azimio team are pushing for implementation of four key issues including the opening of IEBC servers for forensic analysis of the results.

They also want the IEBC reconstitution process started afresh and the government to respect multiparty democracy and stop wooing opposition MPs into government.

The opposition also wants an all-inclusive government and reintroduction of food and fuel subsidies as part of the game plan to lower the cost of living.

President William Ruto has called for the bi[partisan talks between Azimio and Kenya Kwanza via Parliament to address the issue on IEBC reconstitution.

Raila on Thursday said he will announce the return of street protests after Ramadan even as the talks in Parliament continue.
