A Police officer who is being accused of killing a Maseno University student during Azimio demos now says her life is in danger.

Police Constable Georgina Osoro says she has been receiving threats online and offline over the death of William Mayenga.

In her defense, Georgina says she was on duty in Kisumu on March 20 which is 35 KM away from Maseno where the incident took place.

In a letter to the Inspector General, Georgina through the lawyer Danstan Omari has requested police records that will show where she was stationed on that day.

Omari says that a day after the death of the demonstrator, baseless allegations were made maliciously against his client claiming that she was the person who pulled the trigger that led to the death of the university student.

“In a scathing prejudiced public attack, our client’s character has been immensely attacked, veiled and express threats to her life as well as those of her children which reports she has already made” the letter reads.

Omari further says that it has become extremely difficult for his client to work and even send her children to school on account of well-founded fears that they shall be harmed.

Osoro is seeking a certified extract of the OB entries for the days between March 19 and 21, a certified extract from the Arms Movement Book and a certified copy of the list of police officers assigned coverage on March 20 the day of the demos.

Omari says they have requested the information so that legal action can be taken against the people spreading falsehoods and threats against his client and her children.

He has also beseeched IPOA and the IAU to move with speed to investigate the occurrence and consider all exculpatory evidence with the view of informing the entire general public that circumstantially it was not possible for Osoro to have been involved in the said shooting.

Osoro's picture wearing a police uniform has been circulating on Facebook where she is being accused of killing the university student.

She has also attached several annexures detailing the trolling and threats she has been receiving on Facebook and even on her personal number through WhatsApp messages.
