UK Visas and Immigration’s (UKVI) Head of Visit Visas and International Network Dominique Hardy, on Monday officially opened the upgraded TLSContact Visa Application Centre in Nairobi.
While addressing the media, Hardy said the new service will enable Standard visa processing to take 15 working days down from the normal 24 weeks.
She added the UK visas will now be printed in Nairobi, Kenya.
"I encourage our customers to still apply early in the run-up to the British Summer Peak period," she said.
She also launched the Super Priority Visa service, which she said was made possible by improvements and modernisation of UKVI processes.
Hardy said the new service will enable customers purchasing the service to get a decision on their application the next working day.
“I am delighted that we have opened a larger, improved Visa Application Centre in Nairobi which will benefit all of our customers. We are now able to offer the Super Priority Next Day Visa service in Kenya as part of our continuous efforts to improve our service offer to our customers. I would like to thank your commercial partner TLS Contact for their support in making this possible," she said.
Customers will also have an option of choosing Priority Visa Service, in which the Visas will be processed in five working days.
British High Commissioner to Kenya, Jane Marriott said the return to in-country visa printing in Nairobi is a mark of respect and demonstrates UK's commitment to Kenya.
