Kanu political affairs secretary Fred Okang’o on Monday said Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua's allegations that officials from the former regime stole public funds, is a move to weaponising security agencies.

Okang’o was speaking in an interview, where he urged the DP to release the list of those he claims misappropriated public funds.

“One of the ways of weaponising security agencies is by making such utterances as a senior state officer and expecting those investigations to actually follow your path,” Okang’o said.

“We have seen threats to produce the list. If indeed this is true, Azimio we strongly believe in the rule of law and we would want to see that list. We want to see who are these people.

“We would want to know what actions is the law going to take against them. But if it's hot air then again we shall say it's just witchhunt.”

Okango termed DP Gachagua’s allegations as very serious and they must be put to test by investigating authorities.

This comes after Gachagua said that more than Sh24 billion was looted between the time IEBC announced Ruto as President and the day he was sworn in.

Gachagua vowed to release details of how money was swindled from public coffers by individuals in the former regime.

Speaking during a church service in Nairobi, he said that in the coming days, he will be releasing a report on the CSs and PSs who were involved in the looting.

“In the next few days, I will be releasing details of billions of shillings looted from the public coffers in the last three months of the last administration. I will announce the ministers and the PSs responsible so that Kenyans can know,” Gachagua said.

The DP also alleged that the plan to move to the Supreme Court to challenge the declaration of William Ruto as the President-elect was a plot to get more time to empty public coffers.
