Mum can't raise fees, help me join Maranda, pleads top pupil

A 17-year-old boy stares at missing his Form One slot at Maranda High School due to a lack of school fees.

Larmeck Otieno Okech who scored 390 marks in KCPE is unable to join the school because his single mother can't raise the required schools fees for Otieno to advance his studies.

His mother Phenny Okech, a house help for many years is appealing to well-wishers to help his son join Maranda.

"I would want to be a medical doctor when I grow up but I see my dream getting shattered due to lack of school fees. I haven't join Maranda because my mother can't afford to pay the fees," Otieno said.

The boy was forced to repeat Standard 8, last year after he scored 330 marks due to the same fee problem.

His sponsor Darlene Apondi she can't raise more money to support the boy further after she paid his school fees at Aldorrebby Academy in Narok county, where he scored 390 marks.

Apondi said she can't support the boy because she lost her job. She is, however upbeat that the boy will achieve his dreams if he is supported.

"I'm currently at my rural home and I can't support the boy anymore to pursue his education because I lost my job," Apondi said.

The boy hails from Kanam village in West Karachuonyo ward,  Karachuonyo constituency.
