Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti says its Azimio leader Raila Odinga's turn to support Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka for the presidency.

Ndeti said the ODM chief should endorse Kalonzo's presidential candidature in 2027 or else forget the Kamba community's support.

Ndeti said the community was tired of offering political support to Raila without his reciprocation.

"I am telling Kalonzo without fear of any contradiction that he should ask Raila to support him come 2027. Failure to do that, we will rally the entire community to withdraw its support for Raila," Ndeti said.

She spoke during a public participation meeting in the Kathiani subcounty on Tuesday.

Ndeti said it was unfortunate that the Kamba community had been mocked for too long despite its numerical supremacy and contribution to national politics.

"The politics of this country can't be negotiated without factoring in the Kamba community. Those peddling mockery of the community must style up and know that we are not ready to be misused," Ndeti said.

Ndeti's declaration comes barely a few weeks after Raila, who has been actively spearheading anti-government rallies, insisted he will not retire from politics.

Her sentiments were echoed by her deputy, Francis Mwangangi who urged the governor to ignore those critiquing her working relationship with President William Ruto's administration.

"I am in full support of the governor's decision to work with the government because that is a sure bet to securing development projects," Mwangangi said.

Ndeti urged Kenyans to support and work with all the elected leaders across the country.

She said she will work with Ruto's administration for the Machakos people's best interests.

Ndeti sentiments come barely three days after the Raila-led Azimio political rally dubbed "People's Baraza' in Machakos county on Friday, hosted by Kalonzo alongside some Ukambani Wiper leaders at Mlolongo town in Mavoko constituency.

The three Ukambani governors—Ndeti, Mutula Kilonzo Junior (Makueni) and their Kitui counterpart Julius Malombe were a no-show as they were attending the governors' meeting in Naivasha, Nakuru county.

Azimio slammed MPs, senators, woman reps, governors and MCAs who have shown indications to work with Ruto's administration.

Raila said they should be loyal to the political parties which sponsored them or else resign for by-elections in their respective seats to seek fresh mandates from the electorate on Kenya Kwanza affiliate political parties stating that loyalty was paramount.

Ndeti said her administration was in the process of formulating the 2023-24 Machakos County Fiscal Strategy Paper and Medium-Term Expenditure Framework budget financial year 2023-24-2025-26.

"I am hopeful that we will engage with wananchi on a wide range of interventions to actualize these priorities as we seek to transform the lives of the great people of Machakos," Ndeti said.

"I commit to lead a transparent and accountable government that embraces public participation ensuring value for money for our people and our partners."
