A minor aged three years fell from the eighth floor of a building in Tassia area, Nairobi and died on the spot.

The girl identified as Blessing Mumo was playing on the staircase of the building with other children when she slipped off.

She landed on the ground floor on her head sustaining serious injuries.

Neighbours who heard the thud rushed to her rescue and later took her to Forces Memorial Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Nairobi police boss Adamson Bungei termed the incident tragic and said they have started investigations.

He said such accidents have been reported in the city amid calls for safety measures to be put on structures to address them.

Elsewhere, a body of a man aged 44 was found along Uhuru Highway near Liaco Regency Hotel on Monday night.

The victim was later identified as Andrew Tabu.

Police said they were alerted by security guarding the hotel that the lifeless body was lying at the scene.

It is not yet clear what caused the death of the man, Nairobi police boss Adamson Bungei said.

The area is usually classified as a security hotspot.

He said the body was moved to the mortuary for an autopsy to establish the cause of the death.
