We collected over Sh3 million at derby - AFC Leopards

AFC Leopards have revealed the club collected approximately Sh3,330,500 following Sunday's Mashemeji Derby at the Nyayo Stadium, Nairobi. 

The 95th edition saw Ingwe finish with a draw of 0-0 against  Gor Mahia. 

Through a statement, the club says they sold over 10,000 tickets, making it the most attended match in the league this season. 

"461 of those tickets were for the VIP section, and 9565 were for the terraces," the statement read. 

Fans thronged the Stadium to support the players, as some were dancing to their favourite songs after a week-long mobilisation on Social media. 

Their rival, Gor Mahia is yet to reveal the amount collected during the derby, with the number of tickets sold. 

On Thursday last week, the football club urged opposition leader Raila Odinga to cancel his planned Jacaranda rally in favour of the Mashemeji Derby, in order for him to attend the match. 

"We the Kogalo fraternity are aware that you have planned a consultative meeting with wananchi cum demo on January 29," reads a letter addressed to Raila dated January 26.

The football club through the club's secretary general Samul Ochola said that the planned rally was coinciding with their match against AFC Leopards.
