Azimio leader Raila Odinga has told off President William Ruto over claims of a plot to kill Chebukati.

Speaking on Monday during the Azimio rally at Kamukunji, Raila said that Ruto as the President is not in a position to make such utterances.

"There is no one who plotted to kill Chebukati, if Ruto has the evidence he should take it to the police for investigations for those who were involved to be arrested. It was political," he said.

Raila said that Ruto's claim was politically instigated.

This is after Ruto alleged that there was a scheme to abduct, torture and kill Chebukati at the Bomas of Kenya.

Chebukati's alleged murder plot was revealed by Ruto earlier in the week during a meeting with the outgoing IEBC chief and other commissioners at State House Nairobi.

The plot, he said, was hatched by a political syndicate that was managing the presidential succession as the ultimate move to force their preferred candidate on Kenyans.

“We all know there was a direct attempt to abduct Wafula Chebukati and murder him so that the commission would be paralysed or a compliant commission takes over and subvert the people’s sovereignty,” Ruto said.

“It was a hard, cold and lonely time. The threats were dire, the promised rewards lavish and the pressure relentless.”
