Kisii MPs strike deal with Murkomen on stalled roads

The leaders from the two Gusii counties held a meeting with the CS on Wednesday.

Transport and Roads Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen held talks on Wednesday with elected leaders from Kisii and Nyamira Counties.

The leaders, led by Kisii governor Simba Arati presented petitions to the CS seeking the revival of various road projects that have stalled.

Education CS Ezekiel Machogu, who hails from the county, was present at Murkomen's office.

Murkomen promised to look into the issues raised by the elected leaders and committed to ensuring a lasting solution for the Kaplong'-Kisii road.

Kitutu Chache North MP Japhet Nyakundi said the CS committed to also look into the stalled road projects across the county.

"He assured us that all the contractors will commence work immediately to ease up the flow of goods and people within our respective constituencies," the MP said.

The president has insisted that before new projects are initiated, stalled ones must be completed first.

Nominated senator Essy Okenyuri was thankful to the CS for accepting to meet the Kisii leaders.

"The CS and his team committed to fast-tracking the construction of stalled road projects in the region as they will enable connectivity and safe mobility," she said.

Other leaders present included MPs Innocent Obiri(Bobasi), Alfah Miruka ( Bomachoge Chache), Anthony Kibagendi(Kitutu Chache South) and Daniel Manduku (Nyaribari Masaba.

Zaheer Jhanda(Nyaribari Chache), Obadiah Barongo(Bomachoge Borabu), Charles Onchoke (Bonchari), Joash Nyamoko(North Mugirango) and Steve Mogaka(West Mugirango) were also present.

Others were Patrick Osero(Borabu), Nyamira Woman Representative Jerusha Momanyi, her Kisii counterpart Doris Aburi and nominated MPs Gloria Orwoba and Irene Mayaka attended.
