The National Treasury has invited Kenyans to give their views on President William Ruto’s first Budget.

The ministry will hold public hearings on the proposed 2023/2024 Financial Year and Medium Term period Budget at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre from January 11-13.

This will be in accordance with Article 201 (a) of the Constitution and Section 36 of the Public Finance Management Act 2012 which requires public participation in the budget-making process.

Revenues are expected to increase to Sh2.9 trillion compared to Sh2.82 trillion given in the 2022 Budget Policy Statement.

In a paid advert, the ministry said public participation in the budget-making process will officially be launched by Cabinet Secretary Njuguna Ndung’u on Wednesday.

The meeting will also be addressed by National Assembly’s Budget and Appropriations Committee chair Ndindi Nyoro and National Treasury Principal Secretary Chris Kiptoo.

After the addresses, the ministry will make presentations on agriculture, health, education, energy, infrastructure and ICT, governance, law, justice and order social protection, public administration and environment, protection, water and natural resources sector.
