President William Ruto has urged the Cabinet secretaries to ensure no files pile up in their offices.

Speaking during the Cabinet retreat in Nanyuki on Friday, Ruto said he wants the CSs to use the shortest time possible to make decisions.

"I have run a ministry so I know it can sometimes be difficult and very lonely," Ruto said.

"But by any means possible, do not allow files to pile in the offices, find the shortest time possible to make the decisions."

The Head of State urged them to reach out to him and each other for help when they are stranded.

He also told them to make decisions on the basis of the best available information they have.

"So, whenever you are stranded with a matter, and you don't know whether it is this way or the other way or you feel unsure, we are available to support you," Ruto said.

He said they can reach out to him as they have his number as he is ready, willing and available to mentor them and other public officers.

"Nobody has a monopoly of knowledge even me, I refer many matters to members of my advisory team," he said.

"Do not feel shy to say I don't know, Waswahili wanasema kuuliza si ujiunga bali ni kutaka kujua, so ask."

The President also urged the senior CSs to mentor and assist their younger and new counterparts.

He reminded them that they should work beyond their villages and counties.

He also told them to protect the interests of taxpayers who have put them in charge of billions of their resources.
