President-elect William Ruto has said he will respect Monday's Supreme Court judgment on the presidential petition and has called on all Kenyans to follow suit.

Ruto said he will lead from the front by abiding by the rule of law as stipulated by the Constitution just as he respected the IEBC's decision.

"Tomorrow, equally, we will respect the decision of the Judiciary because we are a country based on the rule of law and respect for all the institutions," Ruto said.

He spoke on Sunday during a prayer service in Njoro where he said everyone is equal before the law.

"That is the only way we will remain democratic, that is the only way we will remain a constitutional country and that is the only way the citizens of the republic of Kenya will be equal," Ruto said.

A seven-judge bench of the Supreme Court is Monday expected to render its verdict on the presidential petition filed by Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Presidential candidate Raila Odinga.

The court will make a determination on nine key issues Azimio claims were at fault during the tallying of votes for the election held on August 9.

At the center of determination is whether the IEBC election technology was compromised to aid rigging in favour of Ruto.

On Sunday, Raila Odinga exuded confidence that the court would deliver a sound judgment on his petition challenging Ruto’s victory.

“We hope that the Supreme Court will deliver a fair ruling which will help us to strengthen our democracy,” Raila said.

He spoke after a closed-door meeting with Meru leaders who paid him a visit to disown the defection of former Governor Kiraitu Murungi to the Ruto team.

Both Ruto and Raila are expected to be present when the court delivers the judgment.
