Three killed after lorry rams into school bus in Meru

A primary school pupil, bus and lorry drivers have died in a road accident along the Meru-Nairobi Highway.

The accident happened on Friday morning at Ntharene market in Meru county.

 "Three people have died on the spot and several other people sustained injuries in the accident," Ntharene chief Isabella Mutura said.

Agnes Mbae, an eye witness said the lorry which was heading to Kanyakine from Nkubu lost control at the steep hill a few meters from Ntharene Market and hit the school bus head-on.

"The bus driver who was taking some pupils to a school in Kanyakine had already stopped but it was too late. The two drivers died on the spot," she said.

Mbae added that the body of the pupil was found in the wreckage of the bus.
