Early Learning Basic Education PS Julius Jwan has said learning will go on as usual at Kisumu Boys High school following a fire incident.

Property of unknown value was destroyed in the Saturday morning fire incident.

Jwan noted that three dormitories and four classrooms were razed down by the fire which has so far displaced 250 students.

He said the school management, the board and other stakeholders resolved not to send the students back home since they only resumed school on Friday.

Jwan noted that already the Kenya Red Cross has offered to deliver twenty tents to help manage the situation.

Ten of the tents, he said, will be used as classrooms while the others shall be converted into temporary dormitories.

"The school has liaised with their contractors and suppliers who have promised to donate mattresses and beddings for the affected students," he said.

"All the 1,652 out of 2,300 students who reported back to the school on Friday after the half-term break are safe. Nobody was injured in the inferno."

He asked parents to remain calm, adding that the school will communicate about the way forward and how they can come in to help their children.

The 8.30 am fire is said to have started within one of the dorms before spreading to the others, including the classrooms.

Already, investigations have begun as various state agencies have been deployed to establish the cause of the fire.
