The Director of Public Prosecutions says he is following up on investigations into the death of Embakasi returning officer Daniel Musyoka.
Musyoka disappeared on August 11 and his body was subsequently recovered on Monday, August 15, 2022.
"ODPP is following up the case of missing and subsequent death of Daniel Mbolu Musyoka, an IEBC Returning Officer for Embakasi East Constituency, whose body was found today in Loitoktok Kajiado County," Haji said in a statement on Twitter.
Police said Musyoka's body was found in a thicket near the Kenya-Tanzania border in Loitoktok subounty.
The poll officer went missing at his place of work at the East African School of Aviation tallying centre at 9.45am.
His remains were found at Mariko area and taken to a local mortuary.
Police who visited the scene said he seemed to have been tortured to death. The killers and motive are yet to be established.
Police obtained CCTV footage which was helping with the investigations.
The Directorate Criminal Investigation officers from Nairobi on Tuesday arrived at Loitokitok Sub County hospital mortuary in Kajiado as investigations into the murder intensified.
IEBC chairperson Wafula Chebukati on Friday said some commission staff had been profiled, others arrested while he was personally harassed and intimidated.
"Musyoka's family and the Commission have been trying to reach him without success. A report of a missing person has been made at Embakasi police station," Chebukati said.
