Despite relying on his people to vote for him in the just concluded elections, Roots presidential candidate George Wajackoyah only garnered 49 votes in his polling station in Matungulu, Kakamega county.

According to the results from the IEBC portal, Wajackoyah was defeated by Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga who garnered 799 votes.

DP William Ruto garnered 109 votes while Agano party leader Waihiga Mwaure garnered two votes.

The Roots party leader had an issue casting his vote as the KIEMS kit failed.

The agents had to identify him manually as he claimed that the system was planning to rig him out of the presidential race.

He said the system targeted his stronghold in Western, where Kiems kits failure was widespread.

“They started showing that I was at 15 per cent, they moved to seven, then moved five and finally two per cent and now they stop me from voting,” he said.

Wajackoyah has always rooted for Raila, saying he was one of the liberators that were bringing change.

Days before the general elections, there were claims that Wajackoyah was going to support Raila for the presidency.

But he came out and denied the claims, saying he was in the race to stay.

This was after his running mate Justina Wamae claimed that she had not been consulted if the party had endorsed Raila.

Wamae said that if that was the case, she was going to support UDA’s William Ruto.
