President Uhuru Kenyatta has said his 10 years in power as Kenya's 4th President have not been easy as a the reign was marked by a lot of challenges.

The President said the ICC cases in particular took a heavy toll on him at a time he was still expected to deliver to the people of Kenya.

In an interview Sunday night at State House, Uhuru cited the nullification of his win in the 2017 general election as another challenged that rocked his stay in office. 

He said having to participate in the repeat election as ordered by the Supreme Court was not an easy task at a time it was also his mandate to ensure the country remained peaceful.

He said it was at this point that he contemplated giving up power for the sake of uniting the country and for the sake of peace.

"The Covid period was not an easy one, it was a matter of life and death and we had to act first to save people. We had to even lock the country. Then the Ukraine War happened which also had effect in our country, " he said.

He said the four year continuous drought was also a tough one to the government because people will always turn to the government when things are not right.

"You cannot run away from problems, I was entrusted to be a leader and I cannot also be crying when people who want me to give solutions are also crying," he said.

Uhuru said he is grateful for those who stepped in to help him, to bring solutions and to unite people.

"Problems will always be there, how you solve them is what matters," he said.
