A section of Kenyans have been sharing the fake digital card bearing the trademarks of the Nation Media Group.

The card dated November 28, alleges that motorists should use alternative routes and avoid the expressway.

"The NAIROBI EXPRESSWAY CO asks motorists to use alternative means after cracks start to appear on the expressway," the fake card reads.

However, the fact-checkers have established the digital card is not from the Nation.

Nation Media Group whose fake sentiments were disguised has denied ownership of the card.

"FAKE NEWS ALERT! Please be advised that this card doing rounds on social media is fake," Nation tweeted.

The true position of the card was about bandits being killed in an attack in the Sarmach area.

The Nairobi Expressway is a 27-kilometre toll road connecting Jomo Kenyatta International Airport to Nairobi's Westlands area.

It was constructed under a public-private partnership between the government of Kenya and China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC).

The 27.1-kilometer road starts from Mlolongo passing through JKIA and Nairobi’s CBD to the James Gichuru junction along Waiyaki Way.

From Mlolongo, the road links up via an interchange with Airport South Road, to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, along the Nairobi-Mombasa Road.

The highway continues along the existing roadway to the Likoni Road Junction, a distance of approximately 10 kilometres.

From the Likoni Road junction, the toll highway continues northwards to the James Gichuru Road junction, a distance of approximately 13.5 kilometres.

The Nairobi Expressway is aimed at easing traffic and providing seamless access to the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and its environs.
