FALSE: Message attributed to Maraga about Ruto's win fake

Maraga has disowned the message and flagged it as not true.

A message shared on social media indicating that Chief Justice emeritus David Maraga had asked for immediate swearing-in of President-elect Wiliam Ruto is fake.

The message  which was in a form of tweet, that has since been deleted, indicated that the ex-CJ said the  President-elect won the elections.

"Dr. William Samoei Ruto won fairly and squarely the just concluded presidential elections and he should be sworn on the August 30th. I don't know why outgoing President Uhuru Kenyatta is still pressurizing the Supreme Court," the fake message stated.

The fact-checker has, however, debunked the statement and established it is fabricated.

Maraga has disowned the message and flagged it as fake.

"This tweet circulating on social media purporting to be authored by me is FAKE, please ignore," Maraga tweeted.
