Aldai MP Marianne Kitany has received praise for implementation of road projects and enhancement of public participation in the North Rift.

Kitany has been personally supervising road works in her constituency.

Civil society groups in the region have praised her efforts to support rural communities by ensuring they have better roads.

Community leaders, led by Benjamin Leting, Abraham Cheruiyot and Celestine Chelagat, have praised the legislator, singling out road projects that have transformed the residents' lives.

Leting said they had gone round constituencies in the region for bench marking and established that Kitany had given road projects priority.

“She is personally present to ensure that the work done on roads by contractors is of top quality and as a legislator she had done well in her oversight role,” he said.

Kitany has been making weekly tours of the constituency to meet residents and participate in public participation forums before implementation of major projects, including those funded through the Constituency Development Fund.

“I want my work and projects to speak for themselves because my happiness is to see my constituents getting the best services and projects they deserve," she said.

"They should be able to get to markets or other areas because of good roads.”

She is serving her first-term in Parliament.

David Kebenei from the Rural Development Network says they carried out a survey on leadership and public participation, which ranked the Aldai MP as a top performer.
