Second Lady Pastor Dorcas Rigathi has assured the boychild of her commitment to championing for their rights.

Speaking at the UUF Labels Fashion Show 2024 and wedding exhibition held at the Oshwal Centre in Nairobi on Thursday night, Pastor Dorcas pointed out that society has neglected the boychild.

"Many of our communities and culture have neglected the boychild. They don't have a voice and for the longest time, we have men, who are becoming men without emotions," she said.

The second lady has been a big champion for the boychild.

She runs an initiative dubbed the Boy Child Programme whose aim is to rehabilitate and empower the boychild.

"It is very tough to be a man. These days the way we bring them up, we tell them not to have emotions so they don't laugh or speak and they get quiet," the second lady said.

Pastor Dorcas lauded the organisers of the fashion show by saying that the men at the event were 'walking like men of substance'.

She urged Kenyans to encourage men in their spaces to speak up and support their empowerment.

In her address, Pastor Dorcas also encouraged youths to explore creative options for making a living.

"I am here to encourage our young people and hundreds of others who have invested in the creative industry to fight on, keep on trying, never give up. Whatever you create, somebody may be telling you it is not for this season, it is not for this time, but I can tell you in the world somebody will one day buy what you are creating," she said.

She was the chief guest at the event which sought to showcase the blending of Indian and Kenyan cultures through fashion and entertainment.

"With over 45 exhibitors, the Fashion and Lifestyle Wedding Exhibition was a representation of the thriving creativity and innovation in the industry," she wrote on X.

She further called for the protection of intellectual property rights saying;

"I believe our creative minds are goldmines and intellectual properties that are so precious, and we must protect and value them."

The event was organized by Sudha Bhagwagar, Dhruv, and Shrishti Shah to showcase the thriving creativity and innovation in the fashion, lifestyle and entertainment industries.
