Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Thursday held a working meeting with the Embu County leadership.

In the meeting held at his Nyeri home, Gachagua said the leaders led by Governor Cecily Mbarire had called on him at his home.

He insisted that sustained engagement with elected leaders is good for the country, especially when it comes to monitoring the progress of development projects.

"Continuous engagement with elected leaders is instrumental in fast-tracking development projects.

This evening, I was honoured to engage with the leadership of Embu County, led by Governor Cecily Mbarire. They called on me at my rural home in Nyeri County and we had a fruitful working session over a bonfire," Gachagua said.

Other leaders present at the meeting were; Senator Alexander Mundigi, Woman Representative Njoki Njeru, and MPs Mukunji Gitonga (Manyatta), Karemba Muchangi (Runyenjes), Geoffrey Ruku (Mbeere North) and Nabert Muriuki (Mbeere South).

Before the meeting with leaders, Gachagua had earlier visited several places in the Constituency he previously represented as Member of Parliament, Mathira.

"I visited the Ngorano Health Village in Mathira Constituency, Nyeri County, which is under construction. The centre, a brainchild model institution of Pastor Dorcas, will be instrumental in saving many lives and ensuring a socio-economically productive and dignified life of the youth," he said.

The DP also visited his former primary school, Kabiru-ini, and the PCEA Kabiru-ini Girls Secondary School where he encouraged them to prioritise education above everything.
