Law Society of Kenya President Eric Theuri has unpacked his vision and key agenda as campaigns for LSK representative to the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) intensify.

In a tweet, Theuri underscored the pressing need to defend societal values and uphold the rule of law in the face of contemporary challenges.

He emphasized the pivotal role of judicial independence and accountability in ensuring a just society.

Theuri expressed his unwavering commitment to representing the interests of the public on the JSC, promising to champion transformative initiatives within the judiciary.

"I continue to listen to your visions for a society that is Bold, Firm and Resolute and my resolve for an Independent Society becomes more firmer," he said.

"With your support, your vote and your goodwill, i undertake to represent you at the JSC to the best of my ability, upholding all the pillars in my vision for a Judiciary that is Independent, Accountable and providing the esteemed membership with Stellar Representation and Championing Transformation."

Theuri and lawyer Omwanza Ombati were cleared after nominations for the LSK’s male representative to the Judicial Service Commission.

The two were the main rivals in the 2022 LSK election for its presidency but Theuri prevailed.

The two are seeking to replace Macharia Njeru whose six-year term ends in May.

The election to find his replacement will take place on February 22, 2024

Speaking when he presented his papers, Theuri said his focus is on helping reform the commission to be responsive to the needs of advocates and ensure quick turnaround of cases to deal with the backlog.
