Family seeks funds to fly son's body from Dallas to Kenya

A Kenyan family is appealing for financial help to transport the body of their son who died in Dallas, USA.

Ian Wachira was found dead in his truck in Dallas, Texas on January 2.

"We are calling on friends and well-wishers for prayers and to support repatriate Ian’s body back to Kenya, Nyeri in Mathira," the appeal reads in part.

Wilfred Tinega, chairman of the fundraising committee in Dallas said they will fly the body to Kenya as soon as they raise sufficient funds for the trip.

"So far so good, but I can't say at the moment when that will be as you know it's very expensive to transport the body to Kenya," he told the Star on the phone, on Tuesday.

According to the family, Ian is an orphan but has two surviving siblings; Rachel Wachira (Kenya) and Esther Nyambura of Germany.

He also had a cousin named Lorna Wachira based in the US.
