Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba has rubbished the bipartisan talks terming the final report before Parliament as hot air.

The controversial MP said the final report by the 10-member team was tailored to ensure that more positions are created for the political class.

According to the MP, the report lacked some of the anticipated proposals on how to turn around the economic fortunes of Kenyans.

The MP who has been a key critic of the Kenya Kwanza policies said the report rejected radical proposals that would have ensured equity.

" The National Dialogue report is a document used to embrocate political ego. It was hot air used to inflate the political balloon in creating more offices,'' Wamuchomba said on her X account.

"In my opinion without the one man, one shilling one vote in it, is a mendacious manuscript which ignored proposals on equity of resources.''

The MP spoke days ahead of the anticipated debate on the report in Parliament next week when lawmakers come back from their break.

The report contains a raft of proposals including a recommendation to create the post of Official Opposition leader with two deputies.

The report also recommends the entrenchment of the Prime Cabinet Secretary’s office into law.

The panel also proposed an amendment to the Constitution to provide for the equitable share to the county governments to not less than 20 per cent of all revenue collected by the national government from the current 15 per cent.

It recommended a Ward Development Fund be established and also proposed a raft of measures, including the reduction of some fuel levies.

The cost of living was one of the issues that the committee did not agree on.

The committee recommended an increase of timelines within which the Supreme Court shall hear and determine a petition challenging the validity of a presidential election from 14 to 21 days.

They also agreed on restructuring and reconstitution of the IEBC.
