Former Mukurweini MP Kabando wa Kabando and Thirdway Alliance party leader Ekuru Aukot have told off President William Ruto over his New Year remarks that his plan is being sabotaged.

Kabando called out the President saying that following his remarks, it now looks like he was not ready to lead the country.

The former MP said President Ruto blamed his predecessor for all his failures as deputy president and is now blaming all his failures on the Opposition.

He said that Ruto has the option to resign.

"Ridiculously, this 1st day, 2024, you blame the opposition for your 2023 leadership disasters. Clearly, you were not ready to be president. Resign or nonviolent mass action evicts you!" Kabando said.

Aukot on his part claimed that Ruto already bought the Opposition, insisting that if there is any sabotage, it is the head of state doing it.

During his New Year address at State House Nakuru, President William Ruto said his plan is being sabotaged by the judiciary and the opposition.

He accused the Opposition of derailing his development agenda through vested interest litigations.

The President noted that there is something that is fundamentally wrong with having an opposition that does not offer solutions.

Ruto insisted that there is nothing wrong with challenging policy and holding government to account.

He, however, said that national interest is best safeguarded in an environment defined by the competition of progressive ideas, where a good proposal gives way to a better one.

"You will agree with me that there is something fundamentally wrong with the opposition without any viable alternative whose only purpose is division, conflict and anarchy.

"There's something wrong with litigation sponsored by hostage taking vested interests with the sole aim to delay, derail and sabotage delivery of public programs and defeat public interest," Ruto said.
