A 63-year-old man has died by suicide in Mwala, Machakos County.
Michael Wambua Makosi, a married father of three, reportedly ended his own life at Kithuiyani village in Mbiuni location, Mwala subcounty on Wednesday.
Mwala subcounty police commander Nancy Jerebon said the incident was reported to the Mbiuni police station by a village manager.
"It was reported by a village manager that a member of his village had committed suicide by hanging himself with a sisal rope on a mango tree," Jerebon told the Star Thursday.
Officers from the Mbiuni police station and the DCI visited the scene where they established that the tragedy had indeed occured.
The police boss said a container of Ticpid acaricide poison was also recovered from the scene of the incident.
"The body with no visible marks except neck ligature marks. The body was taken to Machakos Level 5 hospital mortuary pending an autopsy," Jerebon said.
Jerebon said an inquest file had been opened on the incident.
DCI detectives have launched a probe into the incident.
Elsewhere in the neighbouring Matungulu subcounty, a 36-year-old man reportedly died similarly on Tuesday.
Chris Musyoka's body was found dangling from a tree at Misuuini village within Tala Township on the fateful day.
Matungulu subcounty police commander Peter Omondi said the deceased's body was discovered hanging on an acacia tree having committed suicide on December 19.
"The body was moved to Patjud mortuary pending an autopsy," Omondi told the Star by phone on Thursday.
He said they had launched investigations into the incident.
