Members of the Kitui county assembly of Kitui and the county executive on Monday started a week-long bonding and consultative session in Mombasa.
Governor Julius Malombe and the Kitui assembly speaker Kevin Katisya made opening statements on the first day of the caucus.
Malombe said the gathering at a Mombasa hotel will provide an opportunity for reflection and take stock of the successes achieved in the county government in the past year.
The governor said the retreat will see the leaders explore areas of improvement as the two arms strive to enhance service delivery for Kitui residents.
“We are here to deliberate upon, and seek solutions, to the problems that affect our people. That is our top priority," Malombe said.
"Therefore, even as we interact, we should not forget that this is for the interests of the Kitui electorate who have entrusted us with the noble role of leading them to socio-economic prosperity.”
Katisya said the forum was key in propelling collaboration, coordination and fostering a robust working relationship between the two arms of Kitui government.
“This will ultimately enhance service delivery to the esteemed people of Kitui. I firmly believe that at the conclusion of this meeting, we will have laid a strong foundation for mutual understanding," he said.
"We will also have attained a bond that would grow stronger, ensuring the improvement of our people’s wellbeing.”
Also in attendance was the Kitui Deputy Governor Augustine Kanani and the Kitui county public service board members led by chairperson Florence Makindi.
