The Ministry of Education has said it is working to have the SMS code for KCPE 2023 results working.

This is after learners and parents noticed it was not working when they tried accessing their results on Thursday.

Though the ministry did not give the exact time by which the irregularity will be sorted, it said its IT team is working on the issue.

Each year after the announcement of the KCPE results, parents usually access their children's results right after they are announced through an SMS code or Knec website.

Several parents reported their frustrations after sending the index number but results were not coming.

A parent, Brian Mwau, said he has tried almost four times but still nothing.

"It's very frustrating because since the CS announced the results around 10 am, we have not received the results. Even the KNEC website, things are not activated for us to check the results," he said.

Another parent Erick Kirima has said he has tried six times to send the index number of the child, and could not understand why it is taking too long.

The message one is getting is: "Dear Customer, the KCPE 2023 results are not available. Kindly try again later after the announcement. KNEC helpline 08007224900."

After Machogu announced the results, he said candidates, their parents, and guardians can access the results through the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) website, SMS platforms, county education offices and their respective schools.

For the SMS option, the candidates should send their index number, followed by the initials KCPE (in capital letters) to 40054 in order to access the results.

"Parents and candidates can get their KCPE results by sending the' results by sending their index number to code 40054. The SMS will be charged at Sh25."

The SMS platform is available for all mobile networks and will be charged Sh25 each.

This year, the council registered 1.4 million candidates compared to 1.2 million in 2022.

Also, this is the last year candidates will sit the KCPE exams as the ministry works on phasing out the 8-4-4 curriculum.
