Anne Adhiambo, the woman accused of killing Nairobi Hospital finance director Eric Maigo, will today be charged afresh with murder.

The fresh plea-taking follows directions by High Court Judge Kanyi Kimondo to allow the suspect two weeks to consult with her lawyers.

That was after Adhiambo pleaded guilty to the charges of murder when she was first charged before Kimondo.

The charges were read to her three times in Kiswahili and she admitted to the offence.

It was then that Justice Kimondo warned the accused against the consequences of pleading guilty.

He asked the accused if she knew the allegations levelled against her and she agreed with a 'ndio' in Swahili.

"In the interest of justice, I have given her time to consult with her advocates before pleading again, "Judge Kimondo said.

Adhiambo was represented by lawyer Samuel Ayora.

The matter was referred to the newly established Kibera High Court where the charges are to be read afresh to the suspect.

Adhiambo is remanded at Langata Women's Prison.

She was charged after the prosecution said she was fit to stand trial and an age assessment showed she was above 18 years.

Elsewhere, the Anti-Corruption court will today rule whether to lift orders that froze the accounts of a Kenya Rural Roads Authority accountant.

Daniel Wambua's account with Sh21 million was frozen after the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission flagged it over graft allegations.

But Wambua says the monies were meant for his dowry ceremony having received it from well-wishers.
