Senators on Wednesday morning were breathing fire as they called for the impeachment of Public Service CS Moses Kuria.
This was after the CS made remarks against the Senators over the ongoing impeachment of Governor Kawira Mwangaza.
The Senators led by Leader of Majority Aaron Cheruyiot and his counterpart Stewart Madzayo warned that Kuria had attempted to interfere with the impeachment hearing.
Senator Cheruyiot claimed the CS was an embarrassment to the Kenya Kwanza government and President William Ruto.
"Speaker, I agree with members of this house who have brought a motion of censure before to discuss the conduct of this particular minister because every given opportunity has done nothing but embarrass the appointing authority," he said
''In fact, it is my submission, that the earlier CS Moses Kuria is let off his duties, the better for this administration because in every single day, in every action that he undertakes, he continues to embarrass the President and the People."
Homa Bay Senator Otieno Kajwang called on their counterparts at the National Assembly to bring the impeachment motion as it is the August House which is mandated to do so by law.
"I want to urge the members of the other house because they are the ones who have the responsibility of censoring and sending serious judicial notice of the conduct of this particular cabinet secretary," he said.
The ODM Senator appealed to the Senate Majority leader to also whisper the concern raised by the Senate to the President, who is the appointing authority.
"The CS is an embarrassment, not just to the government, but to the Republic of Kenya and the entire East Africa," Kajwang added.
Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna expressed concern about how much President Ruto can take from his CSs who continue to embarrass the government.
"One of the things that I asked myself is just how much embarrassment does the President have to endure?" he posed.
Sifuna called on the Senators to take action before, more embarrassment came their way.
On Tuesday night, Senate Speaker Amason Kingi had cautioned the CS over his comments on the proceedings in the Senate on the impeachment of Meru Governor.
As a result, he cautioned Kuria against making any further comments on the impeachment, failure to which he will be summoned.
“I, therefore, caution Moses Kuria, Cabinet Secretary in the Ministry of Public Service, Performance and Delivery Management, and all other persons to desist from adversely making utterances whether written or spoken with the conduct of the impeachment process which may prejudice the just and fair disposal of the present matter,” Kingi noted.
On his X page, CS Moses Kuria had earlier said that the issues presented against Meru Governor Mwangaza do not warrant her impeachment.
Mwangaza will on Wednesday know whether the Senate will uphold or dismiss the impeachment charges against her.
The governor will take the stand to defend herself against allegations raised by the county assembly.
Mwangaza will present her witnesses who shall be cross-examined by the county assembly.
Later, the House shall allow the parties to give final remarks before they break for a few minutes to allow members to deliberate on the accusations.
A motion shall then be moved to debate the arguments by the parties before the senators take a vote by delegation (elected members only).
At least 24 elected senators will be required to vote in favour of the motion to uphold the governor's ouster from office.
