MPs Hussein, Abdi Ali ranked best performing in North Eastern

MPs Hussein Weytan (Mandera East), his Ijara counterpart Abdi Ali and Mohamed Aden (Wajir South) have been ranked the best-performing legislators from the North Eastern region.

In polls dubbed CountyTrak released by survey firm Infotrak, the MPs took the top three slots in the list of the top 10 performing MPs from the region.

Hussein had a score of 55 per cent, while Abdi and Aden tied at 53 per cent each.

Mandera West MP Adan Haji and Lafey's Mohamed Abdi scored 51 per cent each, while Adan Keynan (Eldas), Ibrahim Abdi (Wajir North) and Yussuf Mohamed (Wajir West) scored 50 per cent.

Dekow Mohamed (Garissa Township), Bashir Sheikh (Mandera North), Farah Maalim (Dadaab) and Abdul Ebrahim (Mandera South) closed the top ten with 49 per cent.

In North Eastern counties rankings on how the legislators performed, Ijara MP Abdi Ali topped in Garissa with a score of 53 per cent.

Hussein Weytan led in Madera, while Adow Mohamed led in Wajir.

In overall ranking, Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro has been ranked as the top-performing youthful Member of Parliament. Nyoro came first with a score of 70 per cent.

He was followed by Igembe South MP John Paul and Khwisero MP Christopher Aseka with 66 per cent each.

The survey was conducted between July - September 2023, covering all 47 counties, 290 constituencies and 1,450 wards with an overall sample of 58,748.

The first survey was conducted between July and August 2023 involving 36,200 participants.

"The second survey involving 22,500 participants was conducted to boost the sample size so that each subcounty had at least 200 respondents," Infotrak said.

Sampling frames were designed using population proportionate to size guided by census data and catered for demographics.

Data was collected through Computer Assisted Telephone Interviews.
