National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula's Ford Kenya has suffered a setback after the branch party youth league ditched the party for President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance party, UDA.

The defectors have been in Ford Kenya for a very long time but along the was, fell out with Bungoma Senator David Wakoli.

The youths served Ford Kenya as the youth league, Bungoma branch.

They included Lewis Kisaka (Youth leader ), Sophy Chebon (Secretary) and Juma Samwel (Treasurer) among others.

Speaking when he received the youths in Bungoma on Wednesday, UDA Secretary General Cleophas Malala said he has embarked on a mission of strengthening the UDA party at the grassroots.

The SG also lauded Webuye West MP Dan Wanyama and Nancy Kibaba for standing firm in the party and recruiting new members into the party.

"Let us recruit more members into the party to make it stronger. UDA is the ruling party and I ask all people from the Western region to join the UDA party," Malala said.

He added that UDA is a national party and there is space for everybody.

Malala reiterated calls for ANC boss Musalia Mudavadi and Speaker Moses Wetang’ula to fold their parties and join UDA noting that the objective of joining a political party is to form the government.

“I don’t know what my big brothers Musalia and Wetang’ula are still doing in those parties, just make a decision and join UDA, people join political parties for the purpose of joining the government and now that you know where the government is then make a quick decision and join UDA,” he said.

The two leaders have previously dismissed calls to disband their parties.

Malala pointed out that UDA members will be given priority whenever government services are announced.

“UDA members will be the first people to benefit from government projects like housing and hustler funds,” he said, adding that plans are underway to deploy party managers in every county.

The SG further commended the President for delegating more powers to the Prime Cabinet Secretary to lead the Foreign and Diaspora Affairs Ministry.

“As much as we have reaped big from this government, our leaders from this region should tell us what they have done for us and what they are planning to do for us,” Malala said.

He called on the Western Members of Parliamentary caucus led by Sirisia MP John Waluke to stop doing fundraising in schools and churches and instead work for the people.

"My friends, we are already united, this unity narrative call should stop and work for the people to make you in power," he said.

Among those present during the defections was former Bungoma Governor Wycliffe Wangamati who told the Star this past weekend that DAP- K defectors will join the UDA party.

Webuye West MP Dan Wanyama was also present.
