Kenyans react as state unveils new police uniform designs

Many questioned why the uniforms were being changed barely five years after the current ones were introduced.

The National Police Service on Tuesday invited Kenyans to give their opinions through a public participation exercise regarding the proposed police uniform.

The exercise will take place on Wednesday at Central Region at Ruring'u Police Training College and on Thursday at National Police College-Main Campus Kiganjo

However, the move attracted mixed reactions from Kenyans.

Many questioned why the uniforms were being changed barely five years after the current ones were introduced.

Others suggest that NPS should revert back to the old navy blue uniforms.

"For the last 3 years, you guys have been changing uniforms without explaining to the public. Is this an already approved tender or political kickbacks through tenders? The 3 uniforms are enough, we pump the money to be used into the economy through youth employment,"  Airoborn Pinchez said.

"These guys by now should be calling public participation in selection Police bedsitters, studios and tear-gas suppliers …Hata kaunda suit hatukuulizwa…? Kenengineer posed.
