Sprinter Ferdinand Omanyala has broken his silence after finishing seventh in the 2023 Athletics World Championships in Budapest.

According to Omanyala, his body was not 'firing' like it was in the races leading up to the 100 meters Men finals.

He said that it is now time to evaluate what could have gone wrong and make it better in the coming competitions.

"I really can't tell what happened today. My body wasn't just firing from the semis like it did yesterday. We'll just have to go back and see where to correct and what to do best next time," Omanyala said after the race.

He noted that he understands the disappointment in fans, but he lives to fight another day.

"I know many are disappointed with the result but there is no way we are going back in that. No way you are going back in time we have to accept what happened and see how to get better next time."

In the race, Omanyala finished seventh ahead of Jamaican Ryiem Forde with a time of 10.07 seconds. Forde recorded 10.08 seconds.

American Noah Lyles won the race with 9.83 seconds, while Letsile Tebogo of Botswana and Zharnel Huges of Great Britain came in second and third at 9.88 seconds each.

Oblique Seville, Christian Coleman and Abdul Hakim Sani Brown came in fourth, fifth and sixth with 9.88 seconds, 9.92 seconds and 10.04 seconds respectively.
