Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition party has urged Kenyans to wake up early and start the Wednesday vigil at 6am.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Azimio asked those who will take part in the memorial exercise to light candles, lay flowers, sing the National Anthem and prayer.

This will be done in that order, to remember those who died during the anti-government demonstrations.

"We wish to appeal that upon lighting the candles and laying the wreaths, groups organize themselves, sing our Nation's Anthem and say prayers for justice for the dead and the injured," it said.

Kenyans are to lay flowers at any landmarks around them and light candles in remembrance.

"That the exercise kicks off at 6 am with the lighting of candles and laying of flowers- any kind of flowers- at convenient convergence points including hospitals, parks, bus stages, churches, markets, shopping centres, social halls, county assemblies and county headquarters," the statement said.

It also urged the supporters, in preparation for tomorrow, to ensure that they volunteer and acquire the flowers and candles on Tuesday.

The Coalition asked the leaders in the society to take the lead and guide the processions on Wednesday.

These include political leaders, religious leaders, civil society leaders, Community Based Organizations (CBO) leaders and, youth and women groups leaders.

Others are academic and labour movement leaders.

"Take lead and guide citizens in these sombre and solemn acts of remembrance, solidarity and love," it said.

Azimio added that leaders in Nairobi will meet at a venue, already communicated, to say prayers, lay the flowers, light candles and launch the fund aid.

Earlier, Opposition chief Raila Odinga said he will launch the fund to support the families of the deceased and the injured.

"We are going to launch a fund to help families who lost their loved ones and those still in hospital receiving treatment," he said.

He reiterated that they suspended the earlier planned demos to honour the dead, injured and their families.

"We condole with the families who have lost loved ones and they are the reason as to why we called off the demos," Raila said.
